Introduction: The family is the first and the most unique social institution that considers the health and well-being of a society to be dependent on the health and satisfaction of its members. One of the common problems in the family is marital conflict. One of the effective factors in improving marital satisfaction is mindfulness. Mindfulness means paying attention to the present moment in a specific, purposeful and non-judgmental way. When facing environmental stress, mindful people experience more self-control, higher adaptability, a positive view of their spouse, and effective communication.
Methodology: The current study is a randomized controlled trial using a pre-test-post-test design with a control group receiving the usual care of a standard study. The socio-statistics of the present study consisted of all women with marital conflicts who referred to informed counseling centers in Tehran in 2011. In this research, Freiburg Mindfulness Scale, Kansas Marital Conflict Scale was used to collect data.
Findings: In the first part, the descriptive findings of the research were mentioned, and in the second part, the research findings were mentioned from the perspective of inferential statistics. The average post-test scores of the intensive short-term dynamic psychotherapy group in the variable of mindfulness (29.84) are higher than the average post-test scores in the control group (21.95). In an inferential finding, the normality of data distribution is one of the most important presuppositions of all parametric tests such as covariance analysis. The Shapiro-Wilk test was used to check the normality of the distribution of the variables in the pre-test and post-test.
Conclusion: The results of the present study showed that intensive short-term dynamic psychotherapy has an effect on improving mindfulness in women with marital conflicts.
