This research was a pretest-posttest semi-experimental research design with a ‎nonequivalent ‎control group, which was conducted with the aim of investigating the effectiveness of short-term imago therapy skills training in anxiety sensitivity and distress tolerance of women affected by extramarital relationships. The research statistical population comprised all women affected by marital infidelity, who referred to private psychiatric clinics and psychological services centers in Mashhad. The statistical sample included 30 of these women who were selected through convenience sampling method and were then assigned into two experimental and control groups, each containing 15 subjects. For data collection, Simmons and Gahir Distress Tolerance ‎Questionnaire (2005) and Taylor and Cox Anxiety Sensitivity Index (1995) were applied. Initially, all subjects were pretested. Afterwards, short-term imago therapy skills training was administered to the experimental group, but the control group received no training. At the end of the training period, both groups were post-tested. In the end, the results were analyzed by univariate and multivariate analysis of covariance based on SPSS-22. The results indicated the effectiveness of short-term imago therapy skills training in anxiety sensitivity and distress tolerance of women affected by extramarital relationships (P <0.05).
