The results of research in current decades show that psychological states effect physiological mechanisms. The main goal of this study was to assess the assessment of the effect of positive and negative mood induction using Iranian music on cardiovascular reactions. To do so, according inclusion criteria, 40 students (20 girls and 20 boys) from Tarbiat Moallem University were selected. In order inducing positive and negative mood Iranian music with sadness and happy emotional content was used. Cardiovascular indexes including Heart Rate (HR), Systolic Blood Pressure (SBP) and Diastolic Blood Pressure (DBS) were measured in baseline, negative mood induction and positive mood induction conditions. Results showed that positive mood induction using Iranian music in comparison with baseline condition leads to decrease Heart Rate (HR), Systolic Blood Pressure (SBP) and Diastolic Blood Pressure (DBS). The findings also indicated that negative mood induction using Iranian music leads to increase Heart Rate (HR), Systolic Blood Pressure (SBP) and Diastolic Blood Pressure (DBS) in comparison with baseline condition. Moreover, the effect of sex variable was not significant in any states. In sum, this research findings support psychosomatic disorder model and the role of emotional experience and mood states in cardiovascular reactions.
