Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral training based on face-to-face training on parenting styles for mothers with children with oppositional defiant disorder in Isfahan city.
Method: In this pilot study, 50 mothers of 3-10-year-old children with oppositional defiant disorder in Isfahan in 2017 were included in the study and randomly divided into two groups. The first group was given face-to-face training. The second group was the control group (at the time of treatment). The assessment was measured with Conner's test and Baumrind's parenting assessment, before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed by SPSS software and ANOVA, Kruskal-Wallis, paired t-test and Mann-Whitney tests.
Findings: Face-to-face training improves behavior problems (P=0.03), learning (P=0.04), hyperactivity (P=0.007), impulsive behavior (P=0.008). and children's anxiety (P=0.02) was effective, but no significant difference was observed in physical-psychological problems (P=0.7).
Conclusion: Teaching the parents of children with behavioral, learning, hyperactivity, impulsive behavior and anxiety problems with the face-to-face teaching method was effective in improving the children's problems.
