Background & Aims: The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of Schema Therapy group training on improving early maladaptive schemas and emotion regulation in people with borderline personality disorder with suicidal and suicidal behavior of adolescent girls between 14-18 years.
Materials & Methods: The present study is a quasi-experimental study with pre-test and post-test design with control group. In order to conduct the research, after coordinating with the counseling center, a meeting was held to identify and engage student girls, including self-harm behaviors. Then, the Young Schema Short Form Questionnaire (YSQ -SF), Beck Suicide Thought Questionnaire (BSS), Samson Self-Injury Questionnaire (SHI), and Grass and John Emotion Regulation Questionnaire were administered to them, and 30 female students who completed the study conditions. They were selected and randomly divided into control and experimental groups. Thus, Schema Therapy was conducted in 10 sessions of 90 minutes per group and after the sessions, the questionnaires were again completed by the experimental and control groups. Multivariate analysis was performed for groups.
Results: The results showed that Schema therapy group training had an effect on early maladaptive schemas and emotion regulation.
Conclusion
:Group Schema Therapy training, due to the effects of cognitive techniques, has led to the improvement of early maladaptive schemas and emotion regulation. The other is the increased orientation and area of the ear to excessive buzz and inhibition and emotion regulation of the experimental group.
