The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of Bowen systemic counseling on controlling behaviors and feelings of cohesion in women affected by infidelity in Tehran in 1400. The method of the present study is quasi-experimental and a pre-test-post-test design with a control group has been used to collect data. The statistical population of the study consisted of all women facing adultery who referred to counseling centers in District 5 of Tehran, from which 30 people were selected by available sampling method and randomly in the experimental group (15 people in each group) and control (15 people) were appointed. The Bowen Systemic Counseling Experiment group was trained in 8 90-minute sessions and the control group remained on the waiting list. The instruments used in the present study included a questionnaire of controlling behaviors (Graham Cowan and Archer, 2005) and a questionnaire of feeling of cohesion (Kimiaei et al., 2013) which were used in two stages of pre-test and post-test. The analysis of the information obtained from the questionnaire was performed through spss24 software in two descriptive and inferential sections (analysis of covariance). The findings showed that Bowen systemic counseling reduced controlling behaviors in women affected by infidelity. The results also showed that emotion-based treatment increased the sense of cohesion in women affected by infidelity. According to the results of this study, Bowen systemic counseling is an effective intervention in reducing controlling behaviors and increasing the sense of cohesion in women affected by infidelity.
