Addiction is one of the problems facing our society, especially the youth. Iranian society is a young society, so a lot of effort must be made to solve this problem. Many factors play a role in addiction. The purpose of this study is to review the theoretical foundations and background of research on the role of family functioning in adolescent addiction. The present study is descriptive (review type). The method used in this study was a study and a library. In this study, literature and background related to family functioning and addiction were reviewed. In this regard, in addition to reviewing foreign intelligence sources, sources and databases inside Iran were also reviewed. Studies show that the family plays one of the most important roles in adolescent addiction. Considering that the major part of a person's personality is formed in the family and the basis of the individual's adjustment in society is laid in the family; When the family fails to perform well, this task is inevitably delegated to other individuals or groups, such as peers. Disorder in broken and diseased families is one of the most important factors in the development and spread of addiction in adolescents.
