Introduction: Sometimes obstacles and problems arise in a person's life, which disturbs the adaptation and as a result the mental balance of the person and causes mental disorders. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of intensive short-term dynamic psychotherapy on the reduction of psychological symptoms in patients with histrionic personality disorder in Semnan.
Methods: The research design was a randomized controlled trial with a pre-test-post-test design and a control group. The statistical population was all adult women with histrionic personality disorder. 16 people were selected and replaced by the random number generation method in two intervention and control groups.
The research tools were Milon 3 multiaxial scale and 90-question disease symptoms checklist. Data analysis was done with spss-26 and multivariate analysis of variance.
Findings: The findings showed that there was a difference between both groups in the components of "anxiety", "aggression", "depression", "physical complaints", "obsession-compulsion", "morbid fear", "psychosis", and "thoughts". There is a significant difference between "paranoid" and "sensitivity in interpersonal relationships".
Conclusion: According to the results, it can be said that intensive short-term dynamic psychotherapy is effective in reducing the clinical psychological symptoms of patients with histrionic personality disorder and can be used as a desirable treatment method.
