The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the effectiveness of mindfulness based on stress reduction on negative mood and emotion regulation in people with generalized anxiety disorder. This research was a semi-experimental study with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of the research includes all people suffering from generalized anxiety disorder who referred to counseling and psychology clinics in Hamedan in 1401 for treatment. The research sample consisted of 30 people (15 experimental people and 15 control people) of these people, who were selected using available sampling method and randomly divided into two experimental and control groups. The experimental group underwent 12 sessions of mindfulness training protocol based on stress reduction, and the control group remained waiting for treatment during this period. Data collection was based on the psychological distress questionnaire of Luband (1995) and the emotional regulation questionnaire of Garnevsky et al. (2001). The analysis of the information obtained from the implementation of the questionnaire was done through the SPSS 23 software in the inferential section (analysis of covariance). The findings of the research showed that mindfulness based on stress reduction is effective on negative mood and emotional regulation of people with generalized anxiety disorder, which means that mindfulness based on stress reduction leads to improvement of negative mood and emotional regulation in people with generalized anxiety disorder.
