Background & Aims: Substance abuse is a physical, psychological and social disease that changes the normal functioning of the brain and affects one's life. Due to the importance of the subject, the present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy on ambiguity intolerance, alexithymia and anxiety in people substance abuse. Materials & Methods: The research method was a semi-test with pre-test-post-test design that was accompanied by a experimental group and a control group. The statistical population included all those who went to the Jahrom Health Addiction Substance Abuse Center in 1402 and were treated. 40 people were selected as samples of this community and were randomly divided into two groups of control and experimentation (20 groups). The two groups responded to the McClene (MSTAT-II) questionnaire, the Toronto Alexithymia Questionnaire (TAS-20), and the Lavibond Anxiety Scale (DASS-21). Data were analyzed using SPSS-21 software and Quariance analysis test. Results: The results showed that cognitive behavioral therapy on ambiguity tolerance variables (p = 0.001), difficulty in detecting emotions (p = 0.001), external orientation (p = 0.003) and anxiety (p = 0.001 ), In the post -test phase it has a significant impact. According to these results, cognitive behavioral therapy significantly reduced ambiguity intolerance, alexithymia and anxiety of experimental participants (P<0.001). Conclusion: Therefore, cognitive behavioral therapy can be used to reduce psychological disorders and thus increase the psychological health of people with substance intake.
