Introduction: The aim of this study was to the effectiveness of choice theory training on responsibility and marital commitments of couples referred to the City’s counseling centers in Tehran.
Materials and Methods: The research method was quasi-experimental (pre-test and post-test design with control group). The statistical population of the study included all couples in Tehran in 1398. that is available by sampling method and according to the inclusion criteria, 32 people were selected as the research sample and were randomly replaced in two experimental groups (16) and control (16). The experimental group received 8 90-minute sessions of selection theory training. To collect data from The Responsibility Questionnaire (CPI-R) and the Adams & Jones Marital Commitment Questionnaire (DCI) were used. To analyze data from Covariance analysis was used.
Results: Findings showed that teaching the theory of choice has been effective on marital responsibility and commitment of couples.
Conclusion: According to the findings of this study, it can be concluded that selection theory training can be used as one of the training methods to improve marital responsibility and commitment of couples.
