The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the effectiveness of music therapy on self-efficacy and loneliness of the elderly. This research was a semi-experimental study with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of the research included all the elderly living in the nursing home of Tehran in 1403. The research sample consisted of 30 people (15 experimental and 15 control) of these elderly people who were selected using available sampling method and randomly divided into two control and experimental groups. The experimental group underwent 8 sessions of music therapy and the control group remained waiting for treatment during this period. Data collection was based on the self-efficacy questionnaire of Scherer et al. (1982) and the socio-emotional loneliness questionnaire of DiTomaso et al. (2004). The analysis of the information obtained from the implementation of the questionnaire was done through SPSS 24 software in the inferential section (analysis of covariance). The findings of the research showed that music therapy is effective on the self-efficacy and loneliness of the elderly, which means that music therapy leads to an increase in self-efficacy and a decrease in their loneliness.
