The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the effect of schema therapy on distress tolerance and obsessive beliefs in patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder. The research was of an applied type with a semi-experimental design with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The statistical population included all patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder who referred to counseling and psychotherapy centers in Anar city in the spring and summer of 2022. Among the statistical population, 30 people were selected by available sampling and randomly assigned to two experimental (15 people) and control (15 people) groups. The experimental group was treated (two months in 8 sessions of 90 minutes) and the control group did not receive any intervention. The research tool was standard questionnaires of distress tolerance and obsessive beliefs. Hypotheses were analyzed by Mankva's multivariate analysis of covariance test. The results showed that schema therapy is effective on distress tolerance and obsessive beliefs in patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder. According to the research findings, it can be concluded that schema therapy has a positive effect on increasing distress tolerance and reducing obsessive beliefs in patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder.
