Abstract: (289 Views)
This study examined the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral group therapy on changing attachment styles and marital intimacy among mothers of elementary school children in Tehran. The statistical population of this research consisted of all mothers of students from public elementary schools in District 3 of Tehran during the academic year 2014-2015. The sample size included 30 individuals selected through multi-stage cluster random sampling. Participants were randomly assigned to two groups of 15: an experimental group and a control group. For measuring attachment styles and marital intimacy, the Hazan and Shaver questionnaire was used for attachment styles, and the Alexis J. Walker and Linda Thompson intimacy scale was utilized for marital intimacy. The research design was a pre-test and post-test with a control group. After selecting the experimental and control groups, the experimental intervention (cognitive-behavioral group therapy) was conducted with the experimental group over 10 sessions of 70 minutes each, once a week. Following the completion of the educational program, post-tests were conducted for both groups. To analyze the collected data, in addition to descriptive statistics, one-way analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was used. The findings indicated that cognitive-behavioral group therapy significantly improved attachment styles and marital intimacy in the experimental group compared to the control group. We conclude that this training can be effective in enhancing attachment styles and marital intimacy.
