Separation anxiety is one of the most common childhood anxiety disorders that can disrupt various child functions. Secure attachment plays an important role in reducing these symptoms and increasing parental self-efficacy. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effectiveness of attachment training on reducing children's separation anxiety symptoms and increasing mothers' parental self-efficacy. The present study is a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group and a follow-up test. Among the parents of children with separation anxiety symptoms, 30 people were selected using a convenience method and randomly assigned to two experimental and control groups. The experimental group received attachment training during 10 90-minute sessions. The data collection tools included the Han Separation Anxiety Questionnaire and the Damka Parental Self-Efficacy. Data analysis was performed using repeated measures analysis of variance. The results showed that attachment training significantly reduced children's separation anxiety symptoms and increased mothers' parental self-efficacy in the experimental group. These effects were also stable at follow-up. Attachment training can be an effective intervention to reduce children's separation anxiety and enhance parents' parenting skills. It is recommended that parents use approaches based on attachment theory.
