The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) on depression and life expectancy in the elderly over 60 years of age in Ekbatan. The statistical population of this study includes all the elderly over 60 years old living in Ekbatan town of Tehran in 2021. The number of sample members is 30 elderly people of this town who met the criteria for entering the research and were selected by hand. These individuals were then randomly assigned to the experimental and control groups by simple random sampling. The experimental group underwent acceptance and commitment group therapy in 8 sessions of 90 minutes and the control group remained on the waiting list. The main data of this study were obtained using Beck Depression Inventory (1969) and Schneider Life Examination Questionnaire (2000). Descriptive statistics and inferential statistics (multivariate analysis of covariance) were used in data analysis. The results showed that acceptance and commitment-based therapy on depression and life expectancy is effective in the elderly over 60 years in Ekbatan.
