Background & Aims: Specific learning disorders are neurocognitive disorders that significantly affect children's academic abilities, which may affect various aspects of their parents' lives and psychology compared to parents of normal children. Therefore, the present study was conducted with the aim of comparing life orientation, mood states, and marital happiness in parents of children with specific learning disorders and normal children. Materials & Methods: The statistical population of the study included all parents of children aged 7 to 12 years with specific learning disorders who had referred to psychology and psychiatric centers in different regions of Shiraz, as well as parents of normal children of the same age in elementary school from all regions of Shiraz in 1403. Among the parents of children with specific learning disorders, 20 couples and among the parents of normal children, 20 couples were selected using convenience sampling. The measurement tools included the Life Orientation Questionnaires of Scheer and Carver (1985), Mood States of Broomes (2007), and Marital Happiness of Azrin et al. (1973). The obtained data were analyzed using SPSS.23 software and variance test. Results: The results showed that there was a significant difference in life orientation, mood states and marital happiness between the two groups. So that optimism, positive mood states and marital happiness of parents of children with specific learning disorders were significantly lower than parents of normal children; and their pessimism and negative mood states were significantly higher than parents of normal children (p<0.05). Conclusion: According to the results obtained, it is suggested that educational workshops be held for parents of children with specific learning disorders with the aim of promoting life orientation, improving mood states and increasing marital happiness.
