The present study aims to localize and evaluate the effectiveness of Hope-Action Theory in Iran, examining the role of hope and agency in the development of career path competencies. The present study was conducted using a mixed method. In the qualitative part, the approach of the constructivist grounded theory was used to identify the specific cultural dimensions of Iran. The participants included experts in the field of career counseling, 18 of whom were selected as a sample using the theoretical sampling method. In the quantitative part, a quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test was used. The statistical population of this part included students entering the labor market, 40 of whom were selected using the convenience sampling method and randomly assigned to two experimental and control groups. To evaluate the effectiveness of the hope-action model, the experimental group received training based on the hope-action theory developed based on the findings of the qualitative part during 8 training sessions. The tools used in the present study included the Hope-Action Inventory (HAI) questionnaire (Yoon et al., 2017) and the Hopeful Career Status Scale (HCS) (Yoon et al., 2019). The results showed that spiritual self-awareness and internal social support, as new dimensions, play a key role in strengthening individuals' career hope and decision-making. The results also showed that educational interventions based on this model led to a significant increase in career hope, planning ability, and adaptability in the experimental group. These findings indicate that the hope-action model, taking into account cultural differences, can be used as an efficient tool in career development in different contexts. The present study emphasizes the importance of localizing theoretical frameworks and offers suggestions for future research.
